From idea to first collection

The road from a note on your phone to finished products in the warehouse — which decisions to make first and which can wait.

From idea to first collection

An idea almost never arrives fully formed — usually it's an irritation from personal experience: “why is there no decent trail-running kit in my size” or “why does all boxing merch look like it's made for bodybuilders, not for people who just train for themselves”.

The first collection should be small

A common mistake of new brands is planning a full 15-piece line right away. At launch it's better to have 2–4 strong products that fully cover one specific need than a scattered collection where nothing stands out. Better for people to call you “those leggings with the phone pocket” than “yet another sportswear brand”.

Test the product on real people, not friends

Friends and family will almost always say they like it — that's socially safer than honest criticism. You need real members of your target audience, ideally strangers, who will try the product in real conditions — a run, a workout, a working day — and give feedback without worrying about your feelings.

What can wait

A legal entity with a special tax regime, a full website with customer accounts, premium branded packaging — all of this can be sorted out once the product has proven demand. The first batch can easily be sold through Instagram DMs and a bank transfer if that lets you focus on the main question: will anyone buy it at all.
