How sportswear pricing is built
From fabric cost to the marketplace markup — what really goes into the final price tag.

Clients are often surprised: “why does a hoodie cost 6,000 roubles if the fabric and sewing are clearly cheaper?” The answer is that production cost is usually the smallest part of the final price, not the main one.
What the price is made of
The unit cost (fabric, trims, sewing) is the base, and on top of it come, one after another: logistics and customs if production is abroad; the marketplace commission and logistics, often reaching 20–30% of the price; taxes; marketing to win the buyer; and only at the very end — the brand's actual profit, which is what it was all for.
Why you can't just “multiply by three”
There's no universal markup formula — it depends on the sales channel, the competitive landscape and positioning. A premium brand can afford a 5–6× markup on cost because part of the price is status and experience; a budget brand in a highly competitive niche sometimes works at 2×, making up for the margin with volume.
